Show Me Your #shelfie
In the wake of the shelfie era, I find myself asking- is more really more? (Does this make me Carrie Bradshaw yet?) Trust me, I love skin care, maybe a little too much at times, but I make a conscious effort to reign in my consumerism and stick to what works for me. In 2018 alone, the skin care industry grew by 13%, reaching $5.6 billion and is projected to be a $183.03 billion market by 2025. Say what?! I’m not great with numbers but that’s a whole lot of money. I get it, until we find the fountain of youth’s exact location (my bets on Jared Leto or Halle Berry’s basement, but that’s besides the point) everyone is going to take the necessary measures to look as fresh as humanly possible. One of my absolute favorite precautionary skin care measures is masking. Face masks come in tubes, sheets, jars, and bags. They can be powdery, slimy, sticky, fluffy, or bubbly. You can wash them off or peel them. The possibilities are endless people. Hell, Cher even wears them while she runs errands. That being said, not all face masks are created equal. These are the best face masks of all time, or at least of my time to date.
Dead Sea Mud Mask- Cheap, effective, AND just one click away on Amazon? What’s not to like? This mask is a friendly reminder that expensive doesn’t necessarily mean better.
Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask- Smells great, feels great, and leaves your skin feeling super hydrated, bright, and smooth.
Origins Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay- Deep cleans your pores with exfoliating Jojoba beads. Added bonus: it’s baby pink and you’ll look really cute wearing it.
Herbivore Blue Tansy- I’ve been newly introduced to Herbivore and really, really love it. All of their products have 100% natural ingredients and if you struggle with acne, the Blue Tansy mask will be your new best friend.
GLAMGLOW Supermud Activated Charcoal Mask- When a product tells you it’s going to deep clean, I like to actually feel it working and this mask is no exception. It contains acids so will tingle a bit when you put it on, but that just means it’s doing it’s job.
Origins Drink it Up Overnight Mask- Technically meant to be worn overnight but is lightweight enough to apply before traveling to combat dry skin.
SK-II Facial Treatment Mask- This was a #treatyoself purchase due to its hefty price tag and it pains me to say that it was worth every penny. After letting the mask sit for a while, I took it off and let the residual “essence” seep into my skin overnight and woke up looking like I just left Rescue Spa.
TONYMOLY Sheet Masks- A much more affordable alternative if sheet masks are your jam. Huge variety all geared toward unique skin needs.
